Patch by Patch

Patch by Patch is about the importance of human connection and its vital role in heightening our defenses, helping us heal, and making it possible for us to endure times of uncertainty.

Now passing a one-year mark for Covid-19, each of us has put significant effort into figuring out ways to cope with the void created by having so many parts of our lives off-limits or unavailable. As we embrace human connection and the powerful place it plays in strengthening us individually and in healing our communities, the vision for this project has evolved significantly. We believe Patch by Patch can bring people from all beliefs and backgrounds from across the county and across the globe together. The times we are in call for us to stretch far beyond our inner circles and acknowledge and somehow bridge divisions in our local, national, and global communities. Change can happen one person and symbolically, one Patch at a time. If you are reading this, please join us.

We, Julie and Mia, will assemble the patches, symbolically connecting hundreds of us from around the world. It will show our coming together and our collective strength.

For now, we are thinking of it as a "comforter".

We will use hand stitching, representing positive outcomes that result from human connection – care, love, patience, increased strength, endurance, creativity and beauty.

As we process this project, we will use this “comforter” for healing where people will appreciate the collected compassion and goodwill that it represents. More on this as we progress.
